Speaker 1:

In this podcast, you'll hear from women out there leading the way in momentum, and I'll be sharing impactful mindset strategies to help you get out of your own way. Whether you're on a health journey, starting your life after a big change or trying to keep up momentum towards your passion project, with all the ups and downs, this is for you. This is Momentum Restart Podcast. I'm your host, coach Amber B. I am so happy you're here today listening. That's exactly what we're going to talk about the power of listening and how important it is to listen to your clients, the people you share life with.

Speaker 1:

We all know how it feels when someone's not listening. We know how that feels. My son, max, the other day, was telling me about the feeling wheel or chart they have at school, and I love that they do this. He was telling me how one of the feelings on the chart was feeling invisible. He was describing to me, trying to show Jack, an example of what it would look like to feel invisible, to have someone just walk by you. To me, I feel like when someone's not listening or hearing what your heart is, when you're trying to explain something to them, maybe they're listening, maybe they can hear you, but they're not really listening. They don't really want to know what it is that you want that can make us feel invisible. The power of listening is so big for so many reasons yes, for building a business, because you need to listen to be able to understand what strategy and data to build into your business. More importantly, if you are an impact oriented woman, which is exactly who we, what and who we've been talking about over the last couple of weeks, as through this special series where we pull back the curtain and share what it's like to work with the restart collective, with both myself and co-creator Jennifer Seiss, we have showed you the impact about what it feels like when someone's really listening to you. We're going to talk more about that today, digging into why it's important and how you can change the game in your business and in your life by learning this skill. I want you to know that everything we have created in the restart collective is because we were listening. We're going to share that story today about how the restart collective started and what it is that we do, because we know it's something you had been asking for.

Speaker 1:

If you want more information, make sure to DMS the word lounge at restart understore collective on Instagram, and today I Want to make sure that you are listening, as we share with you the power of listening to your clients and the people that you share life with. Let's jump in.

Speaker 2:

One of the biggest lessons we learned at the end of 2023 was the power of listening to your clients and the people you serve, and we had always done that. But when we really started listening in a collective manner, we discovered some game-changing Action that we could take. So the restart collective started. We are at one year it's December when we're recording this and we had been hearing from a lot of people hey, could you and Amber just be in the same room? Could you guys just Come to my house? Could we get your brain in the same room, your brains in the same room? And we decided because our heart is to listen to the people that we serve to give it a shot. And we have come to find that being in the same room with people and Helping people get away to get it done is a game-changer. But the key here is listening to what people want and what our clients we're asking for helped us, lead in to what lights us up and helped us both move the needle in our life in business.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I'll never forget that. I'll never forget it. And what was cool about that Moment which I can't believe? That was almost over a year ago, but we continually heard that same thing each time.

Speaker 1:

We and this is something I had made this mistake many years ago in business and I've heard other people do this too when we think of an idea and we think everybody's gonna love this idea, I need to do this, and we put it out there and then we hear crickets Because we weren't really listening to what other people really want, what your clients really want, and what problems you can help answer. So I made a shift Gosh, it must have been four years ago in my business or three where every time I would hear a problem, I would put it in a Google doc to make sure I was making a long list of what Problems business owners were meeting, so that I could create solutions to meet that and when you and I had. I think something you and I both have in common is we always have our ear to the ground, we're always listening and we're we try to listen more than speak, and we try to really listen so that we can Coach our clients and encourage our clients to step into what lights them up.

Speaker 2:

Instead of us telling them this is what we think, because we've done this, we tell them a million percent, let's let's say that I don't need to cut and pause because, yeah, listening to what they want to do and what lights them up, we are trying to turn you into us, right, or to create a business exactly like ours. We are trying to help you lean into what lights you up, so that you can go from wishing to doing and you can set intentions and take action, and so that you can experience all of the things that you are meant to Do. Experience and, yeah, do and serve and share.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because each of these clients we get to work with it is everyone's so unique and everyone is made for something different, and something different lights them up and when you see them step into that, that's the game changer. And so we want to listen and that's how we we heard about this over and over again Is we kept hearing the same thing, because we're really actively trying to listen to what our clients wanted. They wanted both of us in the same room, and so over this past year We've done what is even the number of how many intensives or retreats? We need some data here. I mean, it's been a lot. We've been a lot of places. Almost every six weeks we flew somewhere, met each other there and met with a client, either one-on-one or and a small group retreat and what we help these clients do is set those intentions and take action, strategize, plan their year profit plan, bus through some mindset work.

Speaker 1:

We did so much this year and together with these clients and Through that we also started hearing so often the need for community and the need for belonging, the need for Continued coaching to people wanted to be a place to ask questions, because we want a lot of times we can get stuck in indecision.

Speaker 1:

We hear so many things happening all the time in business I should do this, I should do this or should I do this and so they wanted a place where they could have access to both of us, where they could ask questions, move forward, keep making decisions, build a community of like-minded women. And we kept hearing this over the course of this past year with every client, every group retreat, and especially at the group retreats. I think we really saw the beauty of that community that was built at both of those retreats and they wanted to continue that community afterwards and we really needed to create a space where they could do that, where they could meet continually and encourage each other and build each other up and get their questions answered so they could keep that momentum moving forward.

Speaker 2:

And that's how we established the resource lounge.

Speaker 1:

That's how it came to be in.

Speaker 2:

Just November 1 of 2023 was when we launched the and opened up doors to the resource lounge, and it's been an incredible experience because we had been listening, we knew what people wanted, we knew what our clients needed and we've created a space just like that for them 100%, and I think you know the number one tip is is that you need to be listening 70% of the time, talking 30% of the time in pretty much everything you do, except on a podcast, because you're supposed to be talking the whole time and you know the key, the key to this.

Speaker 2:

And if you want to practice this and learn more about this, we want to invite you to the resource lounge, because it is a place where we help cultivate these skills as part of what we do to help you run and facilitate a business, and so if you are interested in learning more about that, putting these things into practice we want to see you in the resource lounge and you can DM us the word lounge at restart underscore collective and we will be sharing resources with you consistently trends, coaching, asking questions, things like that and we will be listening to you and helping meet the needs that you have as a client.

Speaker 1:
