It's time to decrease the things that hold you back and increase the things that move you forward towards a life that you want. I'm Amber Bebelheimer and this is the Momentum Restart Podcast. Welcome to Momentum Restart.
Speaker 1:I am your host coach, amber Bee, and this is episode 94, strategies for Finding Ideal Clients. Notice I didn't say finding clients, I said finding ideal clients. There is a question that I ask a lot here and in every coaching call, every intensive. You probably know what it is and that when you're planning something or trying to strategize on how to get somewhere, I want you to first ask yourself. How do you want to feel? The reason why this is so important and I use this in every 90-day planning session with every client. It's also a question you're going to see every week in the 90 days of momentum journal and planner. How do you want to feel? Because what strategies you put in place to find clients, to find whatever it is that you're planning, if you don't know how you want to experience it, or why you want it, or what you want it to look like, you will most likely be attracting anything and everything just to get to an end. It's a means to an end, and clients aren't a means to an end. You're building a business and if you are building a business and you want to make an impact in the world, you want to make sure that you have ideal clients, and what that means is having a client that lights you up. You're excited to work with them because you know that they're going to value you. They're going to value your time. They're going to value your expertise. They are never going to bucket prices because they know how lucky they are just to get a chance to work with you and they know that you and your expertise can help take them further than they could on their own.
Speaker 1:When you work with those ideal clients, it lights you up, it changes the game of your business, and so when you're thinking about how you want to feel at the end of a day working with the client that's going to help you know what strategies to put into place to find them. So when I'm doing 90 day planning with clients, I always start by asking some words to start creating some filter words with them, and one of them is how do you want to feel, whatever situation we're working towards? So if we're looking at a year or 90 days or whatever it is that we're trying to build, I'll ask them how do you want to feel? And the reason that you need that word first, or a way that you can use that word once you have it, is you can use it as a filter to decide which clients you want to work with and which ones you don't want to work with. Then you have gotten out of your own way and you can start attracting and finding those ideal clients.
Speaker 1:Here's a few questions to ask yourself when you're trying to figure out how to find these ideal clients. And the first question we've already asked how do you want to feel after a day of working with a client? How do you want to feel when, if you're working with a client over Zoom, or whether you're sending them a product and picking things out for them, or if you see your client face to face in a service provider industry, when you're done at the end of the day and you get done working with that client, how do you want to feel? I know right now you can probably think of a few different clients that you've gotten to work with and you want to feel like proud of your work. You want to feel like you did your best and that you were appreciated.
Speaker 1:Another question to ask yourself is who are your favorite clients, who? This past year is a great time to ask this question as you're planning for the new year. Look back this year and ask who are some of your favorite clients that you worked with. It's such a fun question to get to remind yourself of all the hard work that you've done and all the ways that you've made an impact this past year. But write down who these clients were and then ask yourself why and start to see what the common thread is. You're gonna start to see common words and for me and a lot of clients, it's because they value my time, they value my expertise. They are going to trust in the process, they're willing to do the work that is needed in order to see the transformation. For me, those are the things that are really important in a client. What are yours? Who are your favorite clients?
Speaker 1:Some of my favorite clients I've worked with are those who want to grow, who are so ready to learn because I'm the same way and I love it. When we are leaning into growth, amazing things can happen. They wanna grow, they wanna learn, and these clients also want to do things in their business and in their lives because they wanna make an impact on others. They wanna help other people. They want to. They know that there's something deep in their heart and in their gut that they are made for and they maybe they might be scared or there might be some mindset things we have to work through, but they know deep in their gut that they have this beautiful thing that they are made for and they want to get there. They wanna use their gifts and use their talents and use their skills and grow so that they can help other people and live a life that they enjoy, because there's so much more to life than work. Work is a beautiful thing. I love working. Also, I love spending time with my kids and I love spending time with my friends and I love doing yoga and dancing and all those things. So those types of clients that value that type of lifestyle, I love working with those clients. So who are your, who are your favorite clients to work with and why?
Speaker 1:And you'll start to see a thread, a common thread, and this is something really important to remember when you are having a chance to accept some new clients into your realm and you're having a chance to decide if it's someone that you're gonna offer something for them to work with or you're setting up boundaries about what that package is gonna look like or the process or the product. You are the business owner. Let's remember that. If you forgot today, go back and listen to last week's episode, because I went all out on that one, reminding you that you get to decide how you run your business. You get to decide like last week I talked about how to make a profit so you can take time off. You get to decide when you take time off. You get to decide what your profit planning is gonna look like. You also get to decide who you're gonna work with. Just because someone's willing to pay you money. Please don't let that be the only reason that you accept someone as a client. Value yourself first so that they can value you, and that means knowing when it might be time to say no to a client and create space and energy to welcome in the ideal client and trust that they're out there.
Speaker 1:Another question to ask yourself is these favorite clients that you have is where did they come from? Where did these favorite clients come from? Did you find them? Did they find you on social media? Was it a referral? If it was a referral, is it? What kind of client referred you? What type of client referred you? Where did that client come from? Keep digging so that you find that common thread of where they came from, so that you can really lean into that area.
Speaker 1:If you're getting a lot of referrals, dig down to the next layer deep and think through okay, well, why are they referring people to you and where did those clients come from, the ones that are doing the referring? Where did they come from originally? What are some of the pieces that were in their client journey, their process, from the day they heard who you were to deciding to work with you through working with you, through the transformation, and what the outcome was. What was that journey like and what were the pieces, the key pieces that were really important. As you're writing these things down and remember journaling, there's so much power in putting pen to paper because then your eyes can start to connect the dots and you're gonna start to see a lot of common threads here. You're basically gonna map out your whole client journey and how you wanna run your business in 2024 just by answering these questions. So you've asked yourself how you wanna feel after the day of working with clients. You've asked yourself who were your favorite clients to work with this past year and why. Where did they come from? What did their full client journey look like, from very beginning meeting you to the very end and beyond. Hopefully, you're retaining them and they're coming back.
Speaker 1:And the last question is so important and one that gets missed all the time, and I could shout this from the rooftops every single day. This is a time to self-reflect and remember if you're noticing some things pop up that are like ooh, that doesn't feel good, that's okay. Today's the day you can make a change, and when we notice those things, that's when we can grow, so don't be afraid of those. The question is what type of client are you? Let's take a quick pause together because I have to share with you one of my favorite things about the all new two-in-one daily planner and journal that I've created for you. The first week of the journal and planner each day when you're planning is filled with a productivity tip from me on how to make the most of your time so that you can be productive and effective in your work and have time to enjoy your life too. These seven days of the productivity tips alone is worth the price of the planner and journal, because it's going to be the game changer for how you show up, by removing pressure to do everything and instead bringing in so much more peace in your day, knowing what's important. Head to coachamberbycom backslash journal and order the 90 days of momentum planner and journal to get started today, and don't forget to tag me on Instagram when you get it in your hands. I can't wait to see you put this to use.
Speaker 1:What type of client are you? How do you treat people? And, to be honest, this is something I've recognized over myself over the last couple of years too, just the more I've been working in the coaching industry and making sure wow, I have to make sure that I'm treating people the same way I want to be treated. We've heard that before. Treat others how you want to be treated. Jack told me that yesterday as a reminder, but it's so true. We attract. What we are is what we attract, and so how are you treating others that work in your realm that you are a client of? Whether are you contacting them all different ways that they said not to? Are you contacting them with a level of expectation that is beyond anything that you would ever expect yourself to give? Or are you treating people with respect and respecting their time and grateful for their expertise and respecting that they are the expert in their field and that's why you are working as a client of theirs and trusting the process and communicating well with what you need and leaning in and being willing to do the work? Are you the type of client that you would want to work with? If not, this is such a cool opportunity to be able to tweak and make those adjustments and changes, because I promise you being the person that you want to attract is one of the fastest ways you can make that happen.
Speaker 1:So just from these questions alone before digging into strategy. Just from these questions alone. If you map these things out, write them out on a piece of paper. Answer to all of these questions, you're going to start to see a major common thread. And if you don't reach out to me and I'll help you notice it, that's my favorite thing to do Start noticing those common threads and how we can piece these things together to create a strategy for you to find and attract those ideal clients.
Speaker 1:The strategy, when you're creating it for next year, needs to be clear. First and foremost, you need to be clear about who you are Before you're thinking about who those ideal clients are. Who are you? Who are you? What's your expertise? Be confident in that. What are your boundaries? Boundaries are so beautiful in a client relationship because when you have boundaries and you know, as the service provider or as a coach, you know, if you know what your boundaries are, you know that you are then free to give in abundance within those boundaries and you never feel taken advantage of because you know what the boundaries are and you have clearly communicated that to your client. So the strategy is making sure that you are clear who you are, what your boundaries are, so that you can give freely, be the person that you want to be and you will attract clients who are like-minded. Thank you, this has blown my mind how this is so true.
Speaker 1:Recently, the co-creator of Restart Collective, jennifer Seis, and I we have launched the Resource Lounge. If you haven't checked it out yet, this is a group for impact-oriented women in business who wanna make a difference, who wanna live an intentional life, who wanna grow and grow their business, and it's a beautiful community and through this last couple months of getting this up and running, we had a chance to interview past clients from this last year on Instagram Live and it was so humbling and life-giving and amazing to see a thread. The thread was every single person that we interviewed on this live. We would get done with our interviews and we're gonna do this more too, because we still have so many important people who wanna share with you but we would get done with these interviews and we would message each other or call each other and be like. That was so amazing. I love that we get to do this work and it was such an eye-opener of all. These people have something incredible and common and it's that they are impact-oriented, they are others-driven, they really want to see their work make a ripple effect. And we were so excited and realized, wow, us standing in, who we are and that is at the heart of both of us, which is why we love working together is we wanna make an impact for others and us standing in that and being that has naturally attracted clients who want the same. It really does work.
Speaker 1:And then the last strategy, which is huge Now that you know who you are, you're clear, you know what your boundaries are, so you're ready to give. You're practicing being the person you wanna be, so you'll attract those like-minded clients. Fourth is to make sure you're around these people in every way. There's so many ways to be around these people and nurture these client relationships and, lise and remember, this is not something that happens overnight. You need to be able to create real connections and relationships over time that will build into beautiful clients that will stay with you forever, because you have taken the time to get to know them. Make sure they're the right fit, you are confident in the person that you are. They know who you are and the ways to do this.
Speaker 1:You can be in-person networking groups, whether in-person, face-to-face in your community or virtually in networking groups. The Resource Lounge with the Restart Collective is a really, really powerful way to be able to make consistent connections every other week in this space with the impact-oriented women in business. There's so many great networking groups and we've heard in this Resource Lounge too, from the Restart Collective, that these women are practicing going into their communities and building networking groups. This is so powerful. Surround yourself with the people that you want to attract and you'll attract more. Also, consider who you're following on social media so you want to be around these people in every way, these types of people, these ideal clients. Where do these clients hang out? Follow those people on social media so that you're in their space. And those clients who have brought you some of those favorite clients, those referrals, nurture that relationship with that original client, because so much more goodness can come from it. Maybe there could be a collaboration or a building a connection and just giving gratitude for them, sending clients your way. Nurture that relationship.
Speaker 1:Ultimately, when you're strategizing and finding and attracting ideal clients, it's so important to make sure that you're starting with how you want to feel and then planning back from there, and whether you're planning your quarter using the journal and the planner that's now available, or you're booking a 90-day planning call and strategy call with me and coaching, or maybe we're meeting face-to-face next year in person with the Restart Collective. This is how it's done In all of those methods. It's always starting to get better. It's always starts with how you want to feel, and then you can determine who your ideal clients are from there, and then you can dig deeper and find out where they're hanging out, who you need to be, who you want to be, and then make sure you're showing up in those places.
