This is Momentum Restart Podcast. I am your host, coach, amber Be, and I am really excited to bring you these next four weeks of special episodes here on Momentum Restart. I've joined together with Jennifer Seiss from In 9 Minutes Podcast and together we are going to be giving you an inside peek into the restart collective experience.

Speaker 1:

If you haven't heard of the restart collective yet, this is an experience and company that was co-created by myself and my good friend and brilliant business and connection coach, jennifer Seiss. Over the past year Together, since building this business, we have had the privilege of hosting 12 in-person one-on-one strategy intensives to help women pinpoint exactly what their next moves are, implement and take action in person so that they can go home and enjoy their family life. We've done 12 of these in-person events just in the past year, plus two in-person group retreats one in Nashville, one in North Carolina. We have done one virtual group retreat live from Chicago, an in-person group workshop in Minneapolis and a virtual retreat as well. We have spent so much time on airplanes and in airports, traveling the six different cities together over the last year to make this happen. Through all of that and our newest offer, the Resource Lounge, which I'm going to share with you today, it's helped over 50 women step into what lights them up, set some powerful intentions and take some serious action in their business to move the needle, all while making connections that we know are going to last a lifetime and build them up. Not to mention the number of Starbucks Americanos we drank during this season and plates of French fries which we ordered at every single restaurant. We started this tradition in Chicago in March and it has lived on. Not to mention, both of us, jennifer and myself, are also taking care of our families and ourselves and serving our own clients in our own respective businesses.

Speaker 1:

The reason I point that out is because I want you to know it really is possible. When I say that you can be productive and effective and efficient and enjoy your life too, I really mean it. It is possible. It takes a lot of intention and some very focused, undistracted action to have that space to be able to enjoy your life. That's exactly what Jennifer and I have done with the restart collective. Over the next four weeks, we are coming together and have a series of podcast episodes that we recorded to show you the power of belonging, the power of intention and action, the power of listening to your clients and the people that you share life with and, ultimately, the power of doing what lights you up. We had some really great conversations. Today you're going to hear about the power of belonging. This is really important to us.

Speaker 1:

When we decided over this past year of seeing all these clients face to face and strategizing for them and advising them in their businesses, we realized what a huge need there is for women in business to have a place where they belong, a place where we all belong, because running a business can feel lonely and it can be isolating, especially when we're behind our computers all day. We loved our in-person group retreat experiences and meeting our clients one-on-one. We noticed how hungry that we all are for that connection and belonging. We created a monthly experience where clients can pop in on office hours, get some hot seat coaching, get some questions answered and be able to make decisions and move forward and take action, plus create this amazing community with impact-oriented women who are in business because they want to do something that matters. Through the Resource Lounge, we always make sure that everyone knows that they belong.

Speaker 1:

Today, we're going to listen to the interview from Jennifer and I. If you want to check out more information, I encourage you to check out the Restart Collective Instagram page and it is at restart underscore collective. There you'll see all of our fun past events over the last year, some fun videos and all what it looks like to be face-to-face and in-person for these two-day intensive strategize. Also, you'll be able to understand and get to see what it's like to be in the Resource Lounge. There is a place for you. There is a spot for you, a seat for you. We would love to see you there. This is a really attainable place for you to jump in and get to experience what the Restart Collective is all about. Going into the new year, let's jump in.

Speaker 2:

When you experience belonging, you are primed for growth. How much. When you can really have that feeling of being anchored in a place, which is part of what belonging means, you feel confident to move towards growth, and growth is so, so important. Aimer, do you have a story about a time where you experience belonging like this? That really changed the game for you.

Speaker 1:

I do. But the first thing that pops in my head when I hear the word belonging is that feeling of middle school, high school, when you're just starting to figure out who you are, and having, when you have that sense of belonging with your people. All of a sudden your nervous system calms down and you feel like you can settle in a little bit. But we can all relate in knowing what it feels like when we don't have that group of people during that time of life. That was some of the best and worst times of life ever.

Speaker 2:

The best of times. The worst of times.

Speaker 1:

And the worst of times, yep. So I remember I actually made a big shift in when I was. This is when I was gosh, 13 years old, 14. My parents grounded me for three months. I wasn't allowed to leave the house except for with them or see friends.

Speaker 1:

I did something very naughty so I was grounded at home and at the time I was very upset about it. But now I think my mom all the time for this, because she was watching out for me and knew that my friend group was going to be so impactful for my growth and my life, and so she helped me at home work through this. And I'll never forget the day when I had been at home for almost three months all summer and a friend that I had met maybe once or twice at school called me on the old style phone with the cord. This was 1990.

Speaker 2:

You still know your phone number.

Speaker 1:

And she I do 2802946. Of course I do. Yeah, yep, we all know it. And I answered the phone and she invited me out to a baseball game and I'll never forget where I was and how that felt. When she invited me and she introduced me to this amazing group of friends that we all became instantly connected. We're really like minded and we enjoy the same things. We encourage each other. I am still friends with these women today, at 43.

Speaker 2:

And I'm getting chills.

Speaker 1:

I love that, I would be getting chilled and like teared up talking about it.

Speaker 1:

But we meet every September and we talk about life and kids and hard things and we cry and we talk and we always talk about that moment when my mom grounded me and we all laugh about it. But how that? My friend Emily made the call, invited me and I had this sense of belonging and I know, because I had this beautiful sense of belonging in that other half of high school, that my growth was really possible and I really excelled in so many things because that confidence really helped me and I believe that that's really important in every area of her life. Yeah, and actually it's been proven that that's one of our top needs, just our human needs the sense of belonging. And when we don't have that sense of belonging somewhere, we can feel really unsettled and feel like we're looking for something all the time and we can't really focus on what we want to grow in and how we want to grow or feel even creative. So it's been proven that we actually need belonging to be able to grow 100 percent.

Speaker 2:

I love that story and it made me choke up too, and what it really says is that you, emily, invited you into the right room and being in that room is what helped you move closer and closer to who you really are, who you're meant to be, and they walked alongside you and really helped you feel that sense of belonging.

Speaker 2:

And I think it's so valuable. And what happens is is kind of you can kind of jump from phases of feeling like you're belonging, feeling like you aren't, unless you are intentional about it. And, like you said, it's a natural need that we have, and so those natural needs, those core needs, are needs that need to get met, and being in the right room is one of the things that can help you feel that way, especially as a female business owner, because we're in a dog eat dog world. Ok, we know that comparison in all of those things and comparison that turns into competition can just throw us right off course, but when we are in an environment and in a room where it is curated for belonging, it is designed to promote that, then we set ourselves up for so much more success and Growth absolutely, and you're so right.

Speaker 1:

There's the competition and the Comparison. If that is what you're finding in the room that you're in right now, or the text string, anyone, or the group text message.

Speaker 2:

Let's talk about that for one second.

Speaker 1:

The group text message oh, yep, yes, if you're in any sort of group, whether it's virtual, in person, and you start to feel less than yeah, that is such a sign you're ready to move to the right room and get out of that one.

Speaker 2:

It's not serving you or the people in it ready to run, like the Dixie chick say get ready to run. I mean right now.

Speaker 1:

Right right now, yep, and being and I know we all want to belong, we want it to be a part of our Life in every area and in business. It's so important and it's important to know that a lot of times we might feel like we have to change to belong in a certain Room. To. In that comparison and now you mentioned this before when we were chatting about like we often or people can feel like I need to be different in order to be in this room and if that feeling it, that's another part where, if that pops up, it's time to run because there's a room there, there's a room available for you, there is a room where you can feel like you belong, because you do belong, because you're accepted as you are, you are believed in and you are supported in the way that you need that support. There are rooms Just like that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, one hundred, which is what we have Created, and that's a huge piece of what is so important to both of us a hundred percent, because so often, when you sit at a table and you, if you start to feel like I have to change everything about who I am, or Every thought I have needs to be different, that is a sign that you are not where you need to be, because when you truly belong, that is when real growth will happen. That's when you get primed for that growth, and that is one of the things that we are so passionate about, because we know that when someone can experience what lights them up and move towards it with Support and accountability and encouragement and people believing in them and sometimes lending them belief until they have it for themselves, that is so vital, and finding community like that Can change the game for every area of your life.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, it can, it absolutely does, and I've heard the the study that you are the sum of the five people that you surround yourself with, and I saw that in the story of you know, when I was in middle school, the people that I was surrounded by my mom knew that that was what was going to influence me and the room that I was in. And it's the same now, as a business owner, making sure that you're surrounded by people that want to grow a business in the same, with the same similar values. And that's why you and I work together so well. We have a lot of different ideas and we do a lot of things different and like a lot of things different, but we, at the core, our values, are the same and we want to have an impact in the world and we want to serve others and we want to see. We want to see others step into what lights them up, and that's why we work so well together, because we have that same similar Core value to a hundred percent.

Speaker 2:

And I think, too, like, another thing about being in community and belonging is like you get out of it what you put into it. So if you go into a room and you just sit there and you don't participate and you don't engage and you don't try to connect with people, it's not only on the other people in the room to connect with you or to kind of help you and move you along. And I think about Conversations that we've had with people who are like, well, this wasn't happening for me or I wasn't taking this action because of X, y and Z, and we're like, well, what if you did take it? What if you did try it? What if you did reach out to that person? And that's when the needle moves, because they're leading into that thing, they're resisting, but they're getting out what they put in. So If they don't participate or engage or build connection or reach out to people or do those kind of things, then you can't just wait for things to happen.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely. Yeah, it is so true when we've seen that in the resource lounge that we've created this community for we've seen when people put out a question or our courage have the courage to put out a question or to make a response or to encourage someone in the group, and what it does is it elevates the whole group 100%. It gives back. They're receiving 10 times as much as what they are giving every time that they do it. It just elevates the whole group and the whole energy of the whole room and so even just liking saying an encouragement to someone and something that they're doing, that every little thing matters and makes a difference for sure 100%.

Speaker 1:

And if you're building community too, it's important when you're building it to make sure that and I love seeing this in the resource lounge too is inviting people into something that lights you up, so seeing in. We have a community Slack channel and I love just watching it unfold every day, because you'll see these women post about these beautiful things that they're offering to the world in their business and maybe it's a new thing that they're kind of excited but nervous about and they share it. And then the whole room, the whole room just lights up and gets so excited for them and cheers them on, and it is a beauty. What it does is it inspires them to do the other person, to do what lights them up to, and it's just a ripple effect through the whole room 100% and it's just like you said.

Speaker 2:

It's so fun to watch because that connection is what builds the community, like the foundation of the community, because now they go in and ask each other questions to support each other and of course we speak into it and coach through it and do those kind of things too. But it's really fun and what I have loved seeing is the collaborations that are already happening. There are already collaborations happening and that's part of the belonging, because they're inspiring each other towards growth and they're inspiring them towards growth as people and as business owners and it is so cool to see.

Speaker 1:

And it is. It is a powerful room already and it is a welcoming and encouraging space to be an inspiring to, because when we see each other step into what lights you up, we all want to do the same thing for ourselves too. So it is a powerful room to be in and if you're listening and you are not in the resource lounge right now, we want to invite you. There's a place for you. We want to encourage you and let you borrow our belief in you so that you can step into what lights you up in 2024. So DM us the word at restart underscore collective. Dm us the word lounge at restart, underscore collective, on Instagram and we will send you the information to get in the room for the resource lounge.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we can't wait to see you in there because there is so, so much growth that's possible for you and your business and your life in 2024. Because when you have the resources and the community you need, you are unstoppable.
