Speaker 1:The last four weeks have been incredible, being able to pull back the curtain and give you a peek inside what the restart collective is all about. This has been a huge part of my life over the last year in a few months. The restart collective was born in November after Jennifer Seiss and myself had kept hearing about how many people needed support in setting intentions, setting action, having community and making decisions and building strategy that lit them up. That's what we saw was missing. We saw so many clients coming to us, both separately, who were on the verge of burnout and who wanted to do the things that they loved, but they found themselves doing the things that maybe they were told to do Instead of really digging in and opening their eyes to what really lights them up and what they really wanted to do. We are really passionate. We are still really passionate about helping women find what lights them up, because there is nothing. There is nothing like being in the room on a restart collective, one-on-one, intensive when we meet with a female business owner and we're working for two days and we are setting intentions and taking action and strategizing, knocking through mindset work. We are moving forward, but the most beautiful part is we start our time together talking through and asking questions and digging into what it is that this client wants, that this woman wants for her life and her business, and both Jennifer and I love watching this happen because, as we both ask questions, we notice and we can see it. We can see when a client is talking about a part of her business or her life, where it's just a thing that she does, she has to do and it's just a part of life. And then we see the shift when she brings up the thing that lights her up.
Speaker 1:Jennifer and I have joked that it's not a restart, collective retreat unless one of us is crying and really honestly it's. Their tears come to our eyes and to our client's eyes, because it is honestly sacred ground when you see a woman step into what lights her up and for her to embody that and to be courageous enough to say this is what I want. I'm not gonna follow and do whatever I feel like everyone has been telling me to do for so long. I'm gonna do this because this is what I made to do, and that is when the magic happens. And then we get to do art magic, which is help her strategize and figure out how to make this a part of her business and her life so that she can feel that way as much as possible in life and be able to use what she's made to do to impact the world. So today you'll hear the conversation that Jennifer and I had about the power of doing what lights you up, and we're also gonna ask you a couple questions that you can journal through to really start thinking through what it is that lights you up and how you can live a life that really makes you excited to wake up every day. Can't wait to jump in. If you are not following us yet at the restart collective on Instagram, head there now and you can find us at restart underscore collective and you'll be able to see everything that we're planning for 2024, so many in-person events they're booking up already. You can also see the access to the resource lounge, which is a monthly collaborative experience for impact-oriented women who wanna grow your business and you wanna live an intentional life. It's a chance to have office hours with both Jennifer Seiss and myself so that you can ask questions, help make decisions, bounce ideas off of us and other people in the community and take intentional action while collaborating with like-minded business owners. We are having so much fun over there in the resource lounge and we'd love to welcome you in as well for 2024. So make sure you're following us at restart understore collective.
Speaker 1:And here is our last fourth episode of the four episode series. If you haven't heard the other three, make sure to go back and listen. The power of belonging, the power of intention and action and the power of listening to your clients. And today we're gonna wrap it up with our favorite topic the power of doing what lights you up. Let's jump in. So I was dropping the kids off at school a couple months back, and this is usually the time of day when moms are running in quick to the school, running out they're trying to get to their next thing, and sometimes we have time to chat, but most of the time we don't. And this particular day I was walking out with a mom and she happened to mention. I don't know if she regretted it, probably not but she happened to mention she's considering opening a business and I found myself getting so excited.
Speaker 1:She was telling about her business and the jewelry she makes and all these things that she wants to do, and it was just an idea at this point and I found myself now cornering her in the parking lot because I'm like, and we could do this and you could do this, and Then we're gonna create this for you and we're gonna get people to find you this way.
Speaker 1:And I cannot help myself Because when somebody mentions that they have a dream that they want to step into, I Am all over it and I want to take immediate action and make it happen for them Right then at that moment I'm actually.
Speaker 1:It's been fun to see her step into that too over time. But that is what lights me up is when I get to see other women doing what lights them up and encouraging them to do it, and I know that's been a huge piece of what we do it with the restart collective is really encouraging other women to find what it is that lights them up and Making sure that they're stepping into it. And even if they have a business already, there might be pieces where they need to step a little more into what really lights them up and Ord make a little shift or an adjustment and then they get there and it's like dialing that those locker Combination things used to have on our lockers, like the locks, and you finally just adjust it, one little click at a time until it you just feel that settle in and you know you're in the right spot because you're doing what lights you up a hundred percent.
Speaker 2:I love.
Speaker 2:I love that part of what we do so much because it's helping people see what's possible for them. When they're trying to help people see what's possible for them, so like we're trying to help them experience the transformation, what's possible for them so that they can do the same thing. And what's interesting is that so many times people start a business Doing something they love but then they get sucked into the weeds and their light gets dimmed because they're not doing the thing that lights them up anymore. They're living in the weeds, but what we like to do is we like to pull the weed up out of the ground and we like to Give it some light and help people be reminded of like there are other people who like to do these things that feel like the weeds to you, like a VA, like a Someone else, so that you can do more of what you light up.
Speaker 2:And sometimes we just have to help them Reframe their thinking towards that, because they just think, oh well, I run my business, I have to do all these things, and I mean, ultimately, I want to do this, so I have to do this. And that's not how it works. And when you lean into what lights you up and you spend more of your time there. Then you serve people better. Yes, you do.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you're energized and you're excited and you're inspired, and then you're able to Spread that to other people too, and I've heard a lot of. I think this is a thing For women I've heard a lot and men too. I know Mike has asked me these questions to trying to figure out what lights him up. But same with women, I think, as moms especially, we get to a certain time of our life and we realize what even lights me up. What do I even love to do? What, right, I haven't thought about that for a while.
Speaker 1:What do I even enjoy in life? I don't even know, and so it's really good to step into that. And if you might be thinking, I'm not even sure what lights me up, or I don't even have time to think about it, and so there's a few questions that we ask quite clients, especially on our retreats and intensives together, and I'm sure these will be questions in the resource lounge that we'll get to work through this year too. But there's some questions that we like to ask that can help you figure out what lights you up, if you're just not sure, or it's a good test to see if you're doing what you really feel like you're made to do. And One of those questions is what would you do for free? And we always put a side note here because we really encourage you to not do very many things for free and get charged or get paid for what you're doing, because you are valuable a million percent.
Speaker 1:Let me just say a million percent.
Speaker 1:We're not doing it for free, no, no, we want you to get much for free all the money yeah we understand feeling of how you're Valuing yourself and your expertise, but the first step to figuring it out is asking yourself what would do. What do you maybe find yourself doing for free? I was helping my sister last night update her new website because it's so much fun for me and this mom in the parking lot I wanted to tell her everything that I had ever known about business in this five-minute conversation. So what is it that you find yourself Naturally doing or you would do for free just because it makes you so?
Speaker 2:happy, yeah, and you get really excited about it and want to multiply that excitement into somebody else. The other thing is is like what kind of conversations Do you find yourself speaking up the most in, or what are people asking you about Consistently? Because when you're consistently answering the same question, chances are you can monetize that.
Speaker 1:Oh, that right there should be trademarked and sold from Jennifer Sice. That's the best phrase I've ever heard you say. That's good, that's so true. That's so true. There's something you find yourself repeating or being asked over and over and over again. There is a way that we can help you find out how to Monetize it and build it into your product suite, because that's what you're meant to do, and you should be able to do more of it and help more people with it, because you were given that for a reason a million percent the next one was making sure to create time, and I feel like I Will forever hear Jennifer Sice in my head.
Speaker 1:You will never have enough time or find enough time. You have to set apart the time to do it, and I love that you're in my head all the time saying that, because it's so true If there's something that's important to you, you've got to set aside the time. That's why we always say it's we're in tension and action meet and is where you see the needle move, and that's what the restart collective is all about. So, creating time to dig into what lights you up and creating time to Take action, to start seeing it come to fruition too. Yeah, there are a certain amount of time that you would suggest people. I mean, if you're trying to figure out what lights you up.
Speaker 2:I would start with nine minutes a day. I would start with journaling for about nine minutes a day and journaling through some of these questions, because, number one, you're gonna be able to stay focused for that amount of time and, number two, you won't get sucked into a rabbit hole, you know, and then feel like, oh my gosh, I'm doing this brainstorming and I'm not taking any action or doing these anything else in my life. But I would highly recommend nine minutes.
Speaker 1:It really is the best game changer. Absolutely it is. There have been some really big Things on my list that I did not want to do this year, that we're very Overwhelming because it was such a big task and I broke it up in the nine minutes. So this is one of those, because if it feels kind of scary or exciting or just big, you might ask yourself what really lights me up, and then, putting it on your list to journal it or take that action into it, you might start to feel but what if what lights me up isn't what I'm doing now and that might feel scary and it might feel like a Big decision has to be made. Don't worry about that. Just take nine minutes a day To journal through it and take the next right step.
Speaker 1:And the next right step and that's what we're here for is to help you take off the layers and Really dig into what it is that lights you up.
Speaker 1:This lights up us the most when we can see a woman step into what lights her up. So we would love to support you in figuring out what lights you up and how you can have more of that in your life and how you can use that gift For good and be able to make an impact on others and a huge ripple of impact on that as well, and so this is a powerful thing that you can do, both in the resource lounge with the restart collective and One on one with us. Two on one with us and an intensive or a group retreat in 2024. This is where we love to set those intentions and take action with you and help you figure out what lights you up. So DM us the word lounge on Instagram at restart under store Collective, and we will connect with you and make sure that you get all the information to get in the lounge and start digging Into what lights you up this year.
Speaker 2:We can't wait to connect with you and we are so excited to cheer you on and we're pulling for you in every way.
