Are you a woman who runs the world but know you need a little support to Listen up? Through coaching clients and pursuing my own health and ambitions, I've found getting to a goal takes more than just willpower. It takes a mindset restart and learning how to adjust and not quit. In this podcast, you'll hear from women out there leading the way in momentum, and I'll be sharing impactful mindset strategies to help you get out of your own way. Whether you're on a health journey, starting your life after a big change or trying to keep up momentum towards your passion project, with all the ups and downs, this is for you. It's time to decrease the things that hold you back and increase the things that move you forward towards a life that you want. I'm Amber Bebelheimer, and this is the Momentum Restart Podcast. Welcome to Momentum Restart Podcast. I'm your host, coach Amber Be. What would you do with more space in your schedule? What would you do if you had more space to do the things that you want? And I'm talking to you Working Moms. This is the third podcast episode in the series of how to support Working Moms in adjusting and not quitting. Last week we talked about finding balance and this week I want to talk about what you're going to do in that space once you find balance Now.
Speaker 1:First, I want to make sure I want to put a disclaimer out there, because, as I've been sharing this information on social media and in the podcast too, and I'm really leaning into what it's like to be a working mom I want to make sure that everyone knows. I want to make sure that you know I am not perfect in this. I am far from it. I am right now sitting on a pile of laundry with bags of laundry sitting around me. Be it, they are clean, but just ready for me to fold. And I have laundry everywhere, and it is almost five o'clock in the evening. Usually I am not working right now, but I'm working up in my room while Mike is hanging with the boys and they're all watching TV on a weeknight, which usually we don't. It's not perfect, right? It's not perfect. We all have so much on our plate. So do I.
Speaker 1:And when I talk about balance like I did last week on the podcast episode about how working moms can find balance in life and work and family, I want to remind you again that doesn't mean perfection, it doesn't mean that everything's lined up perfectly. That really is about finding that art of adjusting and not quitting adjusting our expectations, asking for help, and it also means what we're going to talk about today allowing yourself space to think through what would you do with more space in your schedule? What is it that thing or that person that you wish you had more time for? And then, in order to create that space, sometimes that means letting the laundry go, like I did this week, or just lowering my expectations for what this evening is going to look like, because my top priority tonight is getting this podcast episode to you, wrapping up some really important projects I've been working on so that I can get to yoga by 7 o'clock tonight. That is my goal. So knowing what it is that you want in your schedule and what you would fill that space with helps you to prioritize things and let go of the other things.
Speaker 1:So I asked this question recently of what do you wish you could do if you had more time, and I asked this to a group of friends and this is an amazing group of friends who, every one of these women when I'm in the room with them, I have so much fun and I'm so inspired by every one of them. Actually, every time we get together, I usually think in my head what am I doing with my life? Every one of these women makes an incredible impact in our world every day, just the ripple effect of the work every one of these women does, and they have a lot on their plate and they're all moms, and so I really, really wanted to know. I savored their answers. I really wanted to understand and hear what they would say to this question of what would you do if you had more time. And I'm going to share that list with you. Here's what I heard. A lot of them were overlapping and I'm also going to share mine in here too. See if you can spot it. But I heard a lot of. I wish I had more time to plan trips, fun trips with my kids. One of my friends said that she wanted to plan fun trips with her kids while her kids still think she's cool, so while they're young and I heard this a lot of. I want to be able to make memories with my kids. I want to be able to make memories with my family.
Speaker 1:I heard a lot of. I wish I had time to think about what my next career move is or what I want to do instead of just getting by some days. We can all relate to that. I heard that I wish I had time to explore hobbies Again. What is the thing we would fill our space with? What if we could have time for hobbies, right? I heard I wish we had more time for friends, to make friends. Making friends at this stage of life, when we have so much on our plates and we're so exhausted by the end of the day making friends in our 40s and beyond, I've heard, is very challenging, and it really is. It takes a lot of time and it's not like it used to be and just seeing the friends that we do have. It takes months to get that on the calendar and then making sure that we keep it.
Speaker 1:I've also heard a lot of I wish I had more time to spend with my partner, or I wish I had more time to just reflect and be intentional with my life. If you can connect with any of these or maybe you have your own you just wish you had more time. And the first step to really filling this space that you can create when you walk through those three steps that I shared on the podcast last week to build balance. You're going to start feeling and experiencing space. So let's be intentional with what we're going to put in there. We're not just going to add on oh, I'm going to keep up with my laundry more. Unless that's something that's really on your heart that you want to do, then go for it. It's probably one of these things something deeper, it's a connection with a person. It's time on your own. It's reflection time. It's time spent digging into a hobby that you love. It's time spent being intentional about your career and your next moves. It's time spent making memories. So we're going to make sure that the first step is to make sure that you let your mind actually dream a little bit. So, instead of saying I don't have enough time, this exercise by asking yourself what do I wish I could do if I had more time? That kind of takes away the feeling of saying, but I don't have enough time, so you don't allow yourself to think about it. Take that part away and imagine yourself if you had a magic wand and you had more time to do the things that you want to do. What would it be? I encourage you to grab a pen and paper, write it down right now. And if you were living out productivity with purpose, like we're learning in the momentum restart, you can make this happen.
Speaker 1:When I'm working with clients, the question of what do you wish you had more time for? This question always stumps people. At first. I'm usually on Zoom with them, watching them. As I ask this, they usually pause. They think about it. Then, as they're thinking, I can literally see their shoulders relax. I see a soft smile come across their face and then they say it. It's like they were given permission to just say the thing that they've been longing for. It's like you can visibly see on their face and their body language that they're reconnected with themselves all over again. I've worked with some busy, busy, busy working moms. I mean women who have a lot on their plate but every one of them, every single one of them, has been able to use the Momentum Restart tools to start finding space, like I shared last week, and when they got it, they knew what to do with it. They found life again. Even in the midst of that running to-do list that we all have in our head.
Speaker 1:It starts with naming the thing. If you're going to do the work of creating space in your environment, in your boundaries in your schedule. You're going to have to have a really deep why Name the thing that you wish you had more time for. Then it's all about setting a goal and making sure that that goal is doable, making sure that that goal is something that aligns with your capacity. The next step is making sure you have the ability to adjust and not quit. If you want a little refresher on this, go back a couple episodes to how working moms adjust and not quit, and it's having pulls pulls that pull you forward, that help you follow through, because we all need a little support. There are ways that you can set up pulls and support in your schedule, in your day, in your life, where you can follow through on this new schedule and adjust and not quit, so you have the space to be able to do these things that you want to do. These are the productivity tools that I will be teaching you in the Momentum Restart the Restart for working moms, a special group that's coming out soon just for you.
Speaker 1:I have a really special client that I have worked with who has graduated a couple years ago now from Momentum Restart, when it first started. She just wrote me yesterday on Slack, two years later, she said thank you for sharing the Momentum Restart tools with me. She said the other day things were getting hard. I felt overwhelmed and I remembered the Momentum Restart tools. She brought out her journal. She put these things into action how to adjust and not quit, how to add those pulls, how to adjust her expectations, how to set goals that felt doable. She said she was able to change her mindset, bring down that central nervous system and, in turn, be able to keep that momentum going and feel good about her schedule and her life and the balance that she has, knowing what her priorities are and where she's headed.
Speaker 1:I want to invite you to join me.
